Reputation points and can't see photos.

We can't see resident photos on the main wall and it keeps asking us to upgrade. Is anyone else having that same trouble? Don't know if this is due to our NEGATIVE 1000 reputation right now. Not sure but we think our reputation got so low because we deleting a large portion of our blog, but we thought that deleting photos was only an issue if you posted and deleted the same photos several times. We thought the blogs were our own and we could add/subtract photos as we wanted....but apparently not. We've twice tried to contact Igor to reset our points but he hasn't responded.

I have experienced the same phenomena. I have been asked to upgrade while visiting certain members ... strange .... seem to be newer members thought as no problem visiting others. All comments added to a picture and all replies to these comments generate points. If you delete a picture, you in fact delete all related comments and replies thus these points are subtracted from your reputation score. The drop could be dramatic based on the interest generated by a particular post. There are no reputation points generated or taken away while using the private message system. Hope this help ... I try and post as often as I can - people seem to like my pics - have had a few in the most popular catagory - I never post negative comments - I have over a 100 likes on most of my pics yet my rep points keep dropping :( Why ??

Jainie, I might be wrong in making this statement, and if I am, I hope someone will correct me. But I think VCity is deleting points earned for older posts and for old comments made. I think they want to make the 'reputation points' reflective of recent activity, not all time activity. I understand the rational behind this...why should someone have 4000 rep points if they haven't visited the site on over 6 months. Everyone is affected by this...if this were not the case, I'd easily have over 15,000 points just for comments that I've made. Perhaps they should rename the rep points as 'recent activity points'...that would eliminate the confusion.

Hi Jainie, Jammer is right. If you look at the dates when you posted your pics you'll see that you lose rep points exactly 2 months after they are posted. I image that that the points you earned by commenting on someone else's pics also drop off after 2 months. We finally cracked 500 points and then the next day dropped down to 458.

Igor has also stated that if you delete an older pic you will also lose points. The more comments and likes that pic had, the bigger your drop in points.

Correct! Some of many reasons:
- General "fading" away points. You don't want see someone on #1 on the top reputation list, who posted 1000 pics in December 2012 and never showed up again, do you?
- Removing pics: Pics create "likes" which create Rep Points. Pics create work when it comes to checking the tags. Pics are on people's private walls. Pics are linked from many pages, on many tag walls and such. When someone removes a pic, he should not keep the like-points earned for that pic, the feedback points earned for that plus a (really small) deductation for re-calculating roundabout 25000 walls whenever a pic goes *poof".

I don't think anyone is apposed to loosing the rep points when they pull a pic, but is there a way to keep the rep points from going below zero because of removing photos? Many contributors like the security of being able to remove their photos when they want to, and it only becomes a problem when their negative points make it so their photos do not show up on the main walls.

Please read what I already posted 100 times: Let's say Mrs HighPoint posts 1000 pics in December 2012 and then never again - she leaves. You want her to be on top of the list in April 2014?? No. The points mainly reflect your activities of the past 6 weeks.

Igor, perhaps this would be easier on everyone if the name "Reputation Points" was changed to "Recent Activity Points" or something similar.

Have never been much for metrics, so this is a mere observation rather than a complaint. Decided to remove VCitizen posts over a year old particularly because more than a handful began showing up elsewhere on the Internet. Reputation points immediately dropped from 1190 to -44. Will be interested to see what the real consequences are. No longer on the People of VCity popular list, but you know where to find me. Cheers.

Just posted a juicy (literally) photo - sorry, for VResident viewing only. And as advertised, the post did not show up on the VCity All Amateur Posts page due to my current negative reputation status. But the tags appear to push the contribution on to the appropriate Post Wall without problem or delay. Always interesting to see how things work here.
